HTC Magic Mobile Phone Review - A Quality Smartphone With Lots of Redeeming Features
The HTC Magic is another one of HTC's mobiles that shows considerable promise when it comes to standing up to high end phones such as the iphone. Smartly designed, with an elegant and oddly user friendly version of Android as an operating system, there are plenty of things about this phone to love. But is it enough to stand up to the competition?
Its appearance is certainly striking. Available in black or white, the HTC Magic is sheathed in quality plastic. Slender and curvy, it's a phone that is comfortable to hold and manipulate. Alas, while the plastic is of good quality, it also feels very clicky and plasticky. Rather than feeling solid and strong, this is a phone where you're very conscious of it being made of plastic. At 119g, it's not exactly a petite mobile either.
Its 3.2 inch TFT LCD touchscreen is wonderfully responsive and simple to use. It's also big and bright and lovely. However, there are some design features we found a bit baffling. While the shortcut keys are finger friendly and sensibly placed, the addition of the trackball was somewhat annoying. Considering how simple it is to operate, the trackball is not only redundant--it's also a magnet for lint and dust. If you're using the white one in particular, you'll see just how much junk it attracts.
If you want quality Smartphone, get the HTC Magic. If you want a more popular and trendy phone, get the iPhone in which you can compare and get the iPhone 3GS with a deal.
